Earlier, more profuse blooms than many others, Burgundy Queen is a sheer delight in the mid-spring garden. The burgundy-red flowers are set in huge, conical clusters, perfect for cutting or garden enjoyment. Reaching 8 to 10 feet high and 6 to 8 feet wide, this well-branched, extremely vigorous Lilac sets masses of very large trusses of deep red flowers that open from purple buds. It may remind you of the old favorite 'Monge,' but is even more floriferous and dependable. Burgundy Queen flowers in mid-spring, 10 to 14 days earlier than most other French hybrids, so makes a good choice for extending the Lilac season in your garden.
