Crimson and Gold Flowering Quince

Chaenomeles speciosa ''crimson and gold"

Unlike the tiny blooms of other Quinces, 'Crimson & Gold's single-flowered blossoms reach about 2 inches across, with broad, overlapping red petals and an attention-getting frilly yellow eye. They burst open from fat red buds that are as showy as the flowers themselves, and perfect for displaying indoors. Just cut the whole branch and set it in a vase for long-lasting color when you need it most!  Flowers are followed by edible,  fruits (2.5” quinces) that are rather bitter when eaten fresh from the shrub, but quite tasty in preserves and jellies. Finely-toothed, oval to oblong, glossy dark green leaves (to 3.5” long).
