Gibraltar Orange Deciduous Azalea

rhododendron gibraltar

'Gibraltar' is an Exbury hybrid introduced in 1947. It has large ball-shaped trusses of 2.5 to 3 inch wide flowers with broad, frilly lobed, vivid orange petals. It is an upright shrub that grows 4 to 6 ft. tall and 3 to 5 ft. wide. 'Gibraltar' received Rhododendron of the Year honors in 2007 from the American Rhododendron Society. Deciduous azaleas are probably the most striking flowering shrubs. Their colors are vivid and bright, and often have the shades that not many other azaleas and rhododendrons can offer.
